CLAY MODELLING COMPETITION – GRADE 2

The important thing is to create” – Pablo Picasso

Being creative is an attribute that is highly valued today and NPS believes in starting early. Gr 2 students had a great opportunity to demonstrate imagination, creativity, and design interesting models during their clay modelling competition, conducted as a part of their Co-Curricular Activity.

The theme of the competition was ‘Sea World’ and as clay is an extremely versatile and colourful medium, the students deftly fashioned sea horses, octopus, jellyfish, colourful fish, ably supported with artistic backgrounds of water, shells and sea weeds.

Research has confirmed the innumerable benefits of clay modelling in the field of education. The experience of the ‘playing with clay’ is particularly effective in preparing the children for problem-solving tasks which require a high level of thinking, decision making and finer academic skills.
