Festivals bond people together, break the routine and energize the body, mind, and spirit. Echoing this festive spirit, the Pre-Primary students of NPS-NORTH celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi integrated with blue colour with much zeal and zest on Friday, 15th September 2023.
A special assembly was conducted, where students were informed about the significance of this festival. The colour blue was chosen as a theme to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, as blue colour symbolizes inspiration and wisdom, and is the colour of the ocean and the sky. All students and teachers were dressed in vivid shades of blue.
The assembly began with a Ganesh Vandana. The significance of the occasion was further reinforced by a story of Lord Ganesha and the phases of the moon, bringing out the moral that mindfulness is important in the words that we use along with the actions that we perform.
Students were engaged in different fun activities throughout the day. To name a few stencil painting by KG1 that promotes eye-hand coordination and paper craft by Nursery, allowing them to soak in the spirit of celebration and festivities. The students of KG2 enjoyed sculpting their very own Ganesha idols with pottery clay. Working with clay is soothing and the texture and feel enhances the fine motor skills. It also was aimed at fostering an understanding of Indian culture along with the conscious use of biodegradable materials.
The integration of Ganesh Chaturthi celebration with a “Blue Day” theme at NPS-NORTH is a holistic approach to early childhood education. It not only nurtures creativity and fine motor skills but also imparts cultural awareness. These activities create lasting memories and lay the foundation for embracing various traditions and customs in our multicultural world.
