Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world.” – Louis Pasteur
National Science Day was celebrated by the students of NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL-NORTH on Tuesday, 28th February 2023. This day is celebrated to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect in 1928 by the Indian Physicist Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman.
A special assembly was organized in the school to educate the students about the significance of this day. It was a beautifully organized student centric event. Students from Grade I to V were dressed up as various Indian Scientists and spoke about their contribution in the field of science. Grade VI students added excitement to the assembly by conducting fun filled science experiments live in front of the students.
To continue the excitement and enthusiasm amongst the students, various grade appropriate hands-on Science activities and simple experiments were conducted like optical illusion, balloon rocket, lava lamp, water purification, paper chromatography and polythene parachute, in the classrooms, under teacher supervision.
The students were able to understand and explain the principle behind each experiment to their peers and in groups. Young learners were encouraged to write their learning in the worksheet as a reflection and scientific training of formulating a hypothesis and then the actual observations.
Thus, the day ended with loads of EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING for our young students at NPS-NORTH. And hopefully built a scientific temperament with an attitude towards learning more, exploring more and discovering more!!
