“The influence of teachers extends beyond the classrooms, well into the future” –  Sionil  Jose

The above quote sums up the role of a teacher in the life of a student.

NPS NORTH honoured its teacher tribe by conducting a special assembly comprising the whole school, to celebrate this important day. Students of Gr 5 anchored the entire programme, beginning with the school prayer. They sang a song and recited a Guru Vandana in Hindi. The significance of the day was explained by a student dressed up as Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishna and how his birthday is commemorated as Teacher’s Day across schools in India, ever since 1962. It was followed by a scintillating dance performance to the tunes of ‘ShukriyaShukriya” which touched an emotional chord in all the teachers to be celebrating this day in real time after a gap of almost three years of online teaching. There was fun galore when teachers turned the tables on their students and played the the games   designed by them for their teacher s.

Teachers were dressed in shades of blue; the colour blue represents both the sky and the sea and is associated with intuition, imagination and inspiration, all of which they would like the students to imbibe.

Students distributed handmade cards to every teacher and made the day extra special to remember. Needless to say, nobody wanted to go back to classrooms, however, that is precisely what schools teach their students always, discipline and routine are key ingredients to succeed in life.

To culminate the festivities, the school principal, Mrs Devi addressed the students by thanking them on behalf of all the staff. She urged the young minds to develop a sense of gratitude for all the learning opportunities created for them by their teachers.

Amongst the many professions in the world, a teacher is blessed because they are the only ones who can proudly claim, to have a past rich in memories, a present that is adventurous, fun and challenging, only because they get to spend their days with the future!!
