“A garden’s beauty never lies in one flower.”
The Pre-Primary students of National Public School,NORTH celebrated a vibrant and meaningful special assembly on Onam integrated with Regatta Gondola on 2nd September. The event was filled with energy and enthusiasm as our young learners beautifully showcased the spirit of unity in diversity.
The assembly began with an interactive session where students shared the significance of both Onam and Regatta Gondola festivals, drawing attention to their cultural importance and underlying similarities. Onam, celebrated in Kerala, honours the legendary King Mahabali and marks the harvest season, while the Regatta Gondola of Venice highlights maritime history and rowing traditions. Both festivals, though from different corners of the world, bring communities together through joy, pride, and cultural expression.
Students made thoughtful connections between the snake boat races of Kerala (Vallam Kali) and the gondola races of Venice, demonstrating how traditions across the world share common values of teamwork, celebration, and heritage.
The cultural showcase came alive as children created a vibrant Pookalam (floral rangoli), performed Kerala’s traditional dance, and sang a Spanish song, symbolizing that language and culture need not be barriers for our global learners.
The celebration concluded with a joyful message that festivals, though different in origin, reflect shared values of unity, cultural pride, and happiness. It was truly a bright and memorable assembly, spreading the message that learning is most meaningful when it connects cultures across the world.
Just as a garden’s beauty never lies in one flower, our students proved that the beauty of learning lies in celebrating many cultures together.
