‘Unity and discipline are two pillars of a strong nation’ – by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (The Iron Man of India)

On 28th October, Grade VIII C students of National Public School, NORTH, held a special assembly to celebrate National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), symbolising Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s lifelong mission to unite the nation.The event commenced with a prayer and a Thought for the Day that highlighted Sardar Patel’s message of prioritising national identity over regional affiliations.

A presentation highlighted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s crucial role in unifying over 560 princely states into India, emphasising the theme ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India). Students engaged the audience with a skit and a poem on national harmony.

A highlight of the assembly was a multilingual recitation of ‘Unity in diversity is India’s strength’, showcasing languages like Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil. A teacher emphasised the day’s significance and the importance of personal responsibility in fostering unity. The assembly concluded with the National Unity Pledge and the National Anthem, inspiring students to reflect on India’s unification and their role in a united future.
