On June 19, 2026, National Public School – NORTH commemorated the International Day of Yoga with a vibrant celebration involving active participation from both students and staff. The event featured a special assembly centred around the theme of ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ and emphasised the significant role of yoga in enhancing physical fitness, fostering mental well-being, maintaining emotional balance, and promoting a healthy lifestyle throughout all stages of life.

The programme commenced with the school prayer, followed by the Thought for the Day, and a student speech on International Yoga Day highlighting the global importance of yoga and the relevance of this year’s theme.

The assembly featured a Yoga Formation Display that demonstrated discipline, flexibility, and coordination among the participants. Following this display, a practical yoga session commenced, led by the school’s yoga instructor and accompanied by student volunteers. The session began with Surya Namaskara, progressing to a series of standing, sitting, and supine postures, including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana, Ardha Ushtrasana, Shashankasana, Setubandhasana, Pavanamuktasana, and Shavasana. Participants also practised Bhramari Pranayama and took part in a guided meditation session designed to promote relaxation and mindfulness.

A special Yoga Day pledge was administered, encouraging everyone to lead a healthy, peaceful life and foster harmony with the world around them. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, followed by a universal prayer for the well-being and happiness of all. The National Anthem marked the end of the celebration.
