Seeing is Believing: Connecting Classroom Concepts with Real-World Applications at VITM
Connecting classroom theory with real-world application is central to impactful education. The students of Grade 5 and Grade 6 from National Public School, NORTH, Bengaluru, experienced this firsthand during an enriching field trip to the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. Organised to foster a deeper appreciation for practical science, the visit provided students with a dynamic, interactive environment to explore, experiment, and learn beyond their textbooks.
During the visit, students systematically explored specialised galleries, including those dedicated to simple machines, electricity, space science, biology, and scientific inventions. By interacting with working models and participating in hands-on demonstrations, students were encouraged to observe closely, inquire, and discover. This active engagement sparked curiosity and enthusiasm, prompting students to ask thoughtful questions that deepened their conceptual understanding.
To conclude, students completed reflection sheets sharing their observations, learning, and personal experiences. This field trip successfully reinforced the curriculum, encouraging students to learn beyond textbooks and appreciate the practical applications of science.
