On Friday, 28th February 2025, the Pre-Primary students of National Public School – NORTH celebrated the Cherry Blossom Festival, integrated with the colour pink, to joyfully welcome the spring season.
The assembly began with the thought for the day: “Cherry Blossoms are a symbol of renewal, hope, and the beauty of new beginnings,” setting the tone for the celebration. The student further explained the significance of Cherry Blossom Day and the Sakura trees in Japan. She described how these flowers symbolize the arrival of spring and how the bloom is cherished. The students also shared information about the pink flowers of the trumpet trees, or Tabebuia trees, which bloom in Bangalore during this season.
No celebration is complete without music, and following this idea, few students performed to the song, “Cherry Blossoms, Pink and Bright, blooming in the Soft Sunlight,” adding to the festive atmosphere.
After the assembly, the students participated in a fun hands-on group activity in their classrooms. They created cherry blossoms tree using ladyfinger printing, pasting paper flowers, and making pink crepe paper balls.
It was a day filled with fun, learning, and creativity, as the students celebrated the beauty of cherry blossoms and connected with nature in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
