The Pre-Primary students went on an exciting and educational field trip to the HMT Heritage Centre and Museum on 17th January 2025. The museum traces the origin and journey of HMT, highlighting its contributions to various industries, including the manufacturing of wristwatches, machine tools, light bulbs, and tractors.
This visit gave the young learners a special chance to explore the machines used in watchmaking, enhancing their understanding of clocks, connected to their classroom learning in Numeracy.
The students were warmly welcomed by the staff at the museum, who guided them throughout the visit. The students observed a variety of watches on display, including the first-ever HMT watch, known as the Janatha watch. The watchmaking tools and machinery used in the production of these timepieces were fascinating for the students. The intricate components of the watches sparked curiosity, and the students were amazed at the precision required to create each timepiece.
One of the most exciting parts of the field trip was the tractor ride. The tractor ride provided the children with unique hands-on experience, allowing them to feel the connection between the machinery they had seen in the museum and the real-world applications of those machines. To make the experience even more enjoyable, the museum had a park where the students were allowed to play and eat snacks peacefully.
The field trip to the HMT Heritage Centre and Museum was a memorable and enriching experience for students. It was a fantastic learning experience that sparked imagination and fostered a sense of wonder about the world of machines and innovation. The combination of informative exhibits, interactive activities, and engaging staff made the day truly enjoyable and educational for all.
