Exploring Science through Fun: Grade V to VIII Students’ Adventure at MAD Labs

A field trip to The MAD Labs in J.C. Nagar, Bangalore was organised for students of Grades V, VI, VII and VIII in the month of January 2026. The objective of the visit was to provide students with experiential learning opportunities that combine science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with interactive, hands-on activities that reinforce classroom learning.

During the visit, students engaged with multiple interactive zones that made scientific concepts visible and concrete. These included zones focused on puzzles, balance and coordination challenges, water and air experiments, magnetic and builder activities, and introductory robotics- style tasks.

Students formed small groups to solve tasks, perform experiments, and discuss outcomes with peers. They observed scientific phenomena firsthand, such as force and motion through balance challenges and air-pressure experiments, thereby transforming abstract concepts into tangible experiences. Through puzzle challenges and team-based tasks, students learned to collaborate, communicate, and strategise solutions. Hands-on activities encouraged students to ask questions and test hypotheses—improving their engagement and retention of scientific principles. Working in groups helped enhance students’ interpersonal skills, including leadership, patience, and mutual respect.

The field trip to The MAD Labs was both educational and enjoyable for students in Grades V to VIII. It successfully met its learning objectives by blending fun with academic enrichment, creating memorable experiences that supported curriculum goals while fostering curiosity and teamwork.
