Onam, the harvest festival of happiness, peace and prosperity was celebrated with great fervour at NPS NORTH on Thursday, 8th September 2022.

The pre-primary students observed this special day in their own distinctive way. A special assembly was held where students and teachers welcomed the occasion joyously. The significance of the festival and the legendary snake boat races was explained through story telling using flash cards. The young students along with their teachers, decorated a ‘Pookalam’ using fresh flower petals. Diyas were lit and placed on the flower carpets giving a festive and sacred ambience to the occasion.

Teachers were dressed in the traditional attire of Kerala Kodi sarees. They entertained the students by performing the dance ‘Thiruvathira Kali’. Students could not find themselves excluded and joined by tapping along delightfully in this traditional dance. Their enthusiasm out-weighed any planned choreography.

The day was filled with lots of fun, music, dance and enjoyment. It was a true celebration of an inspiring past of King Mahabali and served as a reminder that we have the power to create the same tomorrow with our efforts.
