On 29th January 2025, Grade II students at National Public School-NORTH celebrated International Zebra Day with a lively and educational assembly. The theme, “These Majestic Animals,” highlighted the importance of zebras and their role in our ecosystem.
The assembly began with a thought for the day, followed by interesting facts, such as, zebras living in groups called dazzle and are native to Africa. Students explained the unique characteristics of zebras, such as their black-and-white stripes and how each zebra’s pattern is as unique as human fingerprints.
A short speech about the beauty and significance of zebras focussed on awareness about their decreasing population due to habitat loss and poaching. The students emphasized the need for conservation and how protecting zebras helps maintain biodiversity.
Students dressed suitably in black and white colours added to the spirit of the Zebra Day assembly, symbolizing the striking contrast of a zebra’s pattern. Their coordinated attire made the assembly more immersive and visually impactful.
The teacher talk segment drew attention to the fact that all three species of zebras are endangered animals and their numbers in the wild are still decreasing. She conveyed her thoughts effectively through a powerful quote, “Celebrate the stripes of diversity, protect the beauty of the zebra, and strive for a future where their wild habitats thrive.”
The assembly concluded with a cheerful song about wildlife preservation, leaving the audience inspired and informed.
