National Public School – NORTH, Bengaluru, marked National Sports Day on 28 August 2026 with a vibrant opening ceremony for the Intramural Sports Meet 2026. School leaders, faculty members, and students united in a spirited celebration of fitness, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
The programme began with the uplifting School Hymn, setting a harmonious tone before the Sports Vice Captain delivered an inspiring address on how sports shape character and resilience. The importance of National Sports Day was brought to the forefront, as a heartfelt tribute honoured hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, whose legacy continues to ignite passion in generations of athletes.
During the ceremonial Sports Torch Relay, students from different grades proudly carried the flame, a powerful symbol of unity and shared purpose. The Sports Captain then led everyone in the Sports Oath, reaffirming the spirit of integrity and fair play. With anticipation in the air, the Intramural Sports Meet was officially declared open.
The ceremony flowed into a graceful Yoga Nritya by students of Grades 7 and 8, displaying balance, flexibility, and coordination. Excitement soared as the sporting events kicked off with a spirited Tug of War between the four school houses, igniting enthusiasm for the competition. The programme drew to a dignified close with the National Anthem, marking a memorable start to the Sports Meet.
