“Good Nutrition creates health in all areas of our existence” -Colin Campbell
The week of 2nd September to 5th September 2024 saw Pre-Primary students at NPS-NORTH actively involved in an exciting and informative Nutrition Week, designed to introduce the importance of healthy eating habits to our youngest learners. It was packed with activities, stories, and hands-on learning experiences, making it both educational and enjoyable for all!
The week commenced with a vibrant introduction to the interactive Food Wheel which was experiential in helping children visually understand the concept of good nutrition.
To further reinforce nutrition, teachers shared engaging stories where teachers enacted as vegetables and fruits informing students about healthy food choices. Children sang lively rhymes about water, driving home the crucial lesson of avoiding sugary drinks.
Our teachers took on the role of chefs for the day, preparing a delightful Chef Salad. The children watched with excitement as the teachers combined sprouts and veggies into a colourful and nutritious salad.
Nursery students carried home, a healthy paper plate craft while KG I students creatively prepared a dining placemat to use at home. KG II students engaged in a Show and Tell session, sharing about nutrition and healthy eating at home.
To inculcate daily healthy eating, students were encouraged to bring Healthy Snack Boxes throughout the week. It was heartwarming to see a variety of fruits, vegetables, sprouts and dry fruits, packed well by the parents. The students proudly showed their boxes to their peers before relishing it themselves.
Nutrition Week has laid a strong foundation for fostering lifelong healthy eating habits in our little ones, ensuring they grow up strong, healthy, and happy.
