“Community Helpers: Our Everyday Heroes”
When we learn to be thankful for others, we understand the true meaning of togetherness. The Pre-Primary students at National Public School, NORTH celebrated Appreciation Week from 3rd to 7th November, honouring the community helpers who make our lives safe and comfortable. The theme for this week was ‘Community Helpers: Our Everyday Heroes’.
The festivities began with a ‘Voices – Big Ideas’ discussion session, where young learners shared their thoughts on the importance of community helpers. Teachers conducted interactive sessions that included stories, rhymes, songs, and role-play activities. These engaging activities helped children connect with everyday heroes such as teachers, doctors, soldiers, and shopkeepers, effectively teaching them lessons of gratitude and respect in an enjoyable way.
Each day focused on a specific theme: Education and Defence, Skill-Based Services, Business and Finance, and Medical, Legal, and Technical Helpers. Children dressed up or brought small props representing their chosen community heroes, showcasing their admiration and enthusiasm for the roles they portrayed. The celebration culminated in a fashion show where students confidently walked the stage as their favourite community helpers, expressing their appreciation for these vital roles in society.
Appreciation Week was a heartwarming and enriching experience, nurturing gratitude, empathy, and respect—values that are essential for developing responsible and compassionate citizens.
