A Colourful Fusion: Celebrating Holi and La Tomatina at National Public School, NORTH
On March 3, 2026, the Pre-Primary students of NPS NORTH joyfully celebrated the vibrant festival of Holi, integrating it with the renowned Spanish festival, La Tomatina. This unique celebration aimed to educate students about various cultures, languages, and traditions from around the world.
The special assembly commenced with the school prayer, followed by the Thought for the Day: “Festivals may differ in appearance, but they all spread joy and togetherness. Holi fills our lives with colors of love and happiness, while La Tomatina teaches us to celebrate with fun, friendship, and respect.” During the assembly, students shared insights into the significance of Holi in India and La Tomatina in Spain. They highlighted that both festivals unite people and are celebrated with immense joy and excitement. In Holi, people play with vibrant colours, whereas in La Tomatina, they have fun with tomatoes. Both festivals inspire laughter, dancing, and joyous moments with friends and family.
The celebration continued with lively dance performances featuring songs from both Holi and La Tomatina, filling the atmosphere with energy. The students cheered for their classmates, showcasing a spirit of appreciation for one another’s efforts. To add a creative touch to the celebration, the students participated in an engaging activity where they coloured and painted their T-shirts. These beautifully decorated T-shirts served as special souvenirs, reminding them of the joyful celebration they had shared on campus.
